Glitter & Noise Exhibition
Ekin Kayis presents a selection of his graduation work in Glitter & Noise exhibition during Helsinki Design Week.
The Glitter and Noise exhibition features outcomes of a year-long research in ceramics and glass. This research focuses on potential uses of refractory ceramics in a hot glass studio, in which the designer utilizes a complex manufacturing process ranging from the production of specialized clay bodies from raw materials to the development of experimental glassblowing methods.
The exhibition showcases the results of this process with a handcrafted collection of vases and containers, emphasizing the aesthetic and functional possibilities of this material combination, along with a series of furniture and accessories reflecting the individual character and qualities of these unique materials.
Exhibition title, Glitter & Noise, is a reference to the material qualities and visual aesthetic of the unique ceramic claybodies developed for this project. Due to material composition, these ceramic pieces have a strong pattern of miniscular black dots along with sparkles, resembling a mixture of noise and glitter.
Ekin Kayis is a Turkish product designer based in Helsinki, who has a hands-on and experimental approach to design, along with a strong emphasis on materials, texture and color. Glitter & Noise exhibition culminates his graduation work from Aalto University Product and Spatial Design Masters Degree programme.
Exhibition can be visited at Lobby Gallery of Aalto University Arabia Campus building, Hämeentie 135 C.
